Terms of Service

These terms describe how Cloud 9 Roommates works and what members agree to when using looking-for-a-roommate listings, looking-for-a-room listings, account tools, and contact exchange features.

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using Cloud 9 Roommates, you agree to these Terms of Service, the Privacy Policy, Community Standards, and Safety & Housing Expectations. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. What Cloud 9 Roommates provides

Cloud 9 Roommates provides an online marketplace for roommate discovery, looking-for-a-roommate listings, looking-for-a-room listings, saved listings, workspace management, account settings, internal contact exchange requests, and admin moderation tools. Cloud 9 Roommates is not a landlord, property manager, broker, leasing agent, escrow service, background check provider, or guarantor of any member, room, lease, payment, or housing arrangement.

3. Accounts and security

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Account information must be accurate, including name, email address, and private phone number. You may not create accounts using another person's identity or use the service to impersonate, mislead, harass, or defraud others.

4. Listings and member content

Members may create multiple listings. Looking for a Room listings describe a person seeking a room. Looking for a Roommate listings describe an available room and the person or household offering it. You are responsible for the accuracy, legality, and completeness of every listing, message, photo, tag, budget, move-in detail, personality snapshot, and profile statement you submit.

5. License to operate the service

By submitting content, you grant Cloud 9 Roommates a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, format, reproduce, moderate, and use that content as reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, improve, and promote the service. You retain ownership of content you create, subject to this operating license.

6. Contact exchange

Email addresses and phone numbers are private by default. A contact exchange request allows a member to ask a listing owner to share contact details. Private contact details may be shown after approval or when a member chooses to share them outside the platform. Approval of a contact exchange does not mean Cloud 9 Roommates verifies, endorses, recommends, or guarantees either member or any housing arrangement.

7. Member conduct

You may not use the service for unlawful, discriminatory, abusive, deceptive, spammy, invasive, or unsafe conduct. You may not scrape the site, interfere with platform security, post misleading listings, request prohibited payments, pressure members for private information, or use Cloud 9 Roommates for anything unrelated to roommate or shared living discovery.

8. Housing and fair housing responsibilities

Members must follow applicable housing, rental, consumer protection, privacy, and fair housing laws. Do not post discriminatory language or make housing decisions in ways that unlawfully exclude, discourage, or target people based on protected characteristics. Members are responsible for understanding the laws that apply to their location and housing situation.

9. Safety and due diligence

Cloud 9 Roommates does not verify identity, inspect rooms, validate leases, process payments, or conduct background checks. Members should independently verify identity, room access, lease terms, rent and deposit amounts, payment instructions, utility expectations, safety conditions, and compatibility before meeting, paying, signing, or moving.

10. Admin moderation

Cloud 9 Roommates may edit, archive, remove, limit, or decline content and may suspend or restrict accounts when content or behavior appears unsafe, unlawful, misleading, discriminatory, abusive, spammy, or inconsistent with these terms. Admin review does not create a duty to monitor every listing or interaction.

11. Third-party services and links

The service may use third-party hosting, analytics, security, email, or support providers and may link to third-party websites. Cloud 9 Roommates is not responsible for third-party content, policies, failures, or conduct.

12. No warranties

The service is provided as is and as available. Cloud 9 Roommates does not guarantee uninterrupted access, accurate listings, room availability, compatible matches, message delivery, successful contact exchange, or satisfactory housing outcomes.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Cloud 9 Roommates is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for member conduct, housing disputes, lease disputes, payment issues, offline meetings, or arrangements made between members.

14. Changes

Cloud 9 Roommates may update these terms as the service evolves. Continued use after updates means you accept the updated terms.
