Community Standards

Cloud 9 Roommates is designed to make shared living feel calmer, clearer, and more human. These standards help keep listings, messages, and contact exchange useful and respectful.

Last updated: April 27, 2026

1. Be accurate

Listings should accurately represent the person, room, budget, timing, neighborhood, household expectations, pets, guests, cleanliness rhythm, work-from-home needs, and any material conditions a potential roommate should understand before continuing.

2. Use the correct listing type

Looking for a Room listings are for people who need a room. Looking for a Roommate listings are for people offering an available room. Do not use one listing type to misrepresent the other, and do not imply that a room is available when it is not.

3. Respect privacy and boundaries

Do not pressure another member to share a phone number, email address, home address, identification, financial information, lease documents, social profiles, or personal history before they are ready. Use contact exchange thoughtfully and respect declined requests.

4. Communicate clearly

Clear expectations are welcome. Harassment, threats, insults, sexual pressure, hate speech, repeated unwanted messages, shaming, intimidation, or manipulative behavior are not allowed.

5. Follow fair housing and civil rights expectations

Members must follow applicable fair housing, civil rights, and housing laws. Do not post discriminatory language or make housing decisions in ways that unlawfully exclude, discourage, or target people based on protected characteristics.

6. Keep money and housing claims honest

Be clear about rent, deposits, utilities, fees, lease status, sublet permissions, move-in dates, room availability, and refund expectations. Do not request suspicious payment methods or pressure members to pay before they can reasonably verify the situation.

7. No scams, spam, or platform abuse

Do not post fake rooms, duplicate spam, misleading links, phishing attempts, scraped content, irrelevant promotions, or listings meant to drive members away from Cloud 9 before basic fit and safety checks can happen.

8. Moderation

Cloud 9 Roommates may remove content, archive listings, restrict accounts, or decline access when activity appears unsafe, misleading, discriminatory, abusive, unlawful, or inconsistent with these standards.
