Safety & Housing Expectations
Cloud 9 Roommates can make the introduction calmer, but members are still responsible for verifying people, rooms, payments, and agreements before moving forward.

1. Before sharing private details
Use the platform to compare fit before moving to direct contact. Do not share sensitive documents, financial details, exact address information, or private contact information until you are comfortable and have a reason to continue.
2. Before meeting
If you meet in person, consider a public place first. Tell someone you trust where you are going, arrange your own transportation, and leave if the conversation or situation feels unsafe, pressured, or inconsistent.
3. Before visiting a room
Confirm the address, who will be present, whether the person showing the room has permission to do so, whether the room is actually available, and whether the details match the listing. Avoid visiting alone if you are uncomfortable.
4. Before paying money
Verify lease terms, deposit rules, rent amount, utilities, move-in date, refund expectations, and the identity of the person or entity receiving payment. Be cautious with wire transfers, gift cards, cryptocurrency, payment pressure, or requests to pay before seeing the room or written agreement.
5. Before signing or moving in
Discuss cleaning, guests, quiet hours, pets, shared supplies, overnight visitors, parking, utilities, chores, conflict resolution, move-out expectations, and how rent or deposits are handled. Put important agreements in writing.
6. Contact exchange limits
Approved contact exchange means both sides can continue directly. It does not verify identity, guarantee room availability, screen for safety, or confirm that a housing arrangement is legal or suitable.
7. Warning signs
Be careful with listings that avoid basic questions, refuse verification, ask for unusual payments, claim urgency without details, provide inconsistent room information, use stolen-looking photos, or pressure you to leave the platform immediately.
8. Report concerns
Report suspicious, unsafe, misleading, discriminatory, or abusive activity to site administration. If there is an emergency or immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
